BMSI welcome Uxbridge Students to experience a career in BEMS
Earlier this month BMSI were delighted to invite three students from Uxbridge College to spend a week shadowing BMSI staff and experiencing first-hand what a career in BeMS/HVAC Controls really looks like.
Following an initial induction day at BMSI’s Windsor office, students were assigned to different BMSI engineering teams operating across London and the South East, enabling them to spend time with our trained engineers on some of our leading sites.
This initiative is part of a drive within BMSI to give greater opportunity to young, motivated people interested in a career in electronics and/or electrical engineering to consider joining the BeMS industry.BMSI MD, Jon Axten, discusses why the company are so dedicated to nurturing young talent at BMSI:
“Allowing students access to our sites such as Heathrow Airport and Great Ormond Street Hospital, to experience first-hand the demands of keeping installed BeMS systems operating to optimum levels, was an absolute pleasure for the entire BMSI team to be involved in.
We have made a commitment to again appoint new Apprentices across our UK business later this year and we were interested to hear feedback from our work experience students particularly on what we need to do as an industry-leading employer to make sure the employment opportunities we offer are attractive to the best engineers of tomorrow, something which we are dedicated to ensuring. It was also pleasing to hear feedback from our own experienced engineers about how they were energised sharing their knowledge and experience with young people who are keen to listen and learn. This event has been a great success for all concerned and one we will certainly look to repeat.”
