BMSI & Skanska take on iconic Scalpel Project
BMSI are hard at work on The Scalpel; the newest addition to the most distinguished skyline in the city.
BMSI are working for Skanska on this latest prestigious development, located in the City on the corner of Lime Street. The new luxury high-rise building, as named by the Financial Times, will stand at 38 storeys tall and will house the new European Headquarters for W. R. Berkley. Remaining commercial space will also be let by other finance-based organisations, high-end retail outlets and premium eatery’s; securing the building’s place amongst many other large-scale, iconic buildings that continue to add to BMSI’s extensive list of City of London based projects.
BMSI has provided a full Trend/Tridium BMS and Energy Management System, comprising 80-plus control panels across the entire site and a building-wide EMS system operating from roof to basement. The BMS consists of approximately 20,000 points and an energy management system networked to over 1000 meters across the 41 floors.BMSI Project Manager, Tony Springer, who has been overseeing the project commented:
“This is a great project that BMSI are proud to be involved with. The already- iconic status of the building is matched by the range and diversity of the work involved for the development, which will see our team provide, install and commission an efficient EMS that will ensure preventative energy maintenance rather than providing a reactive solution.
As the project nears its completion in the Summer of 2018, this is a venture that BMSI have very much enjoyed working on and we welcome many more projects on this scale in its wake.”
