BMSI look back at a Successful 2022
As another year draws to a close, we’d like to not only wish you all a Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year but also take some time to enjoy our highlights of the last 12 months here at BMSI.
BMSI take on major upgrade of 30 South Colonnade in Canary Wharf
Back in late January, we were extremely pleased to take on the major upgrade of 30 South Colonnade, Canary Wharf. We completed the project alongside Skanska, MEP, and consulting engineer, Hilson Moran. Once complete, 30 South Colonnade now known as YY London, will become an iconic gateway to a new Canary Wharf.
BMSI’s Management Development Programme: Celebrating the Achievements of 2020’s Graduates
Also taking place in January, after a delay of almost 20 months, we hosted the final statement of our 2020 Management Development Programme at The Midland Hotel in Manchester. A select number of high-performing employees from across our eight regional locations participated in the programme, presenting their ideas on the future of BMSI.BMSI’s MD, John Axton said “Our Management Development Programme is one of the key development initiatives within BMSI and it brings together high-potential, high-performing employees from across the UK to both learn from experienced professionals and provide proposals for the company to take forward.
”BMSI shortlisted as BCIA Awards Finalist 2022 for innovative 80 Fenchurch Street project!
In March, we were delighted, once again, to be shortlisted as a finalist for the 2022 Buildings Controls and BEMS Installer of the Year Award. The BCIA Awards recognise outstanding innovations, effectual project delivery and advanced product development across the controls and BEMS industry. It was our work on the BMS installation at 80 Fenchurch Street, alongside Skanska, MEP and consulting engineer, Hilson Moran, that gained us this esteemed recognition.
BMSI team members win MACE Awards for Heathrow Terminal 3 project
Whilst working to reduce energy consumption at Heathrow Airport, Terminal 3, by overseeing the upgrade of BMS systems to Trend BMS controls, BMSI employees Gerry Howells and Scott Rackham received the MACE Health and Safety Award for January and February respectively.
BMSI wishes a happy retirement, and fond farewell, to two valued team members
In April of this year, we waved goodbye to John Mogg and Chris Mooney from BMSI’s Wales and Southwest region who both retired from the company after collectively serving the BMS industry for over 30 years.
BMSI Southern Region supports UK Defence estate via VINCI’s MoD contract
By June, BMSI had continued to grow its Support and PPM contract with a new customer, VINCI Facilities – covering multiple Ministry of Defence sites.
After being awarded one of four regional contracts to manage the MOD Build Estate, VINCI maintained and expanded BMSI’s Support and PPM Contract, growing the portfolio of estates that BMSI Southern now looks after.BMSI have now worked with Amey Defence on this project for over 10 years covering several prestigious RAF, Army and Military bases across the South of England.
BMSI stay right on target at Western Automation's away day
Later on in the summer, BMSI team members attended a Clay Shooting Day, hosted by Western Automation, a trading division of UL Electric Ltd. The event was a successful opportunity to build and solidify valuable relationships whilst also taking the time to socialise, relax – and most importantly – have fun!
Windsor Races provides the backdrop for another successful BMSI customer event
Taking place at the start of September, BMSI’s annual race day was attended by over 50 people, including 40 customers from BMSI’s innovative Aviation Division.BMSI’s Director, James Smith commented “BMSI’s Raceday was a social highlight of 2022.” – and it certainly was for all involved.
BMSI is making good progress on a major upgrade of 30 South Colonnade in Canary Wharf
September saw us continue our work on 30 South Colonnade where we provided the installation of a bespoke BMS and EMS package, as well as 26 new control panels, 900 FCU controllers and a new front-end supervisor.
BMSI deliver bespoke energy management that drives ESG success at 11 York Street
Following the delivery of the new site at 11 York Street back in October, the BMSI Energy Management Team and BeMS Bureau worked both remotely and onsite to reduce energy and carbon output.
The BMSI team worked on the premium central office developments to ensure continued reductions through efficient and effective strategy and temperature controls in HWS, AHUs, FCUs and the building HVAC plant.
BMSI expand Canary Wharf portfolio at 25 North Colonnade
The work on North Colonnade was just one element of an ever-growing, impressive portfolio of projects recently completed by the BMSI team, which also include 80 Fenchurch Street, York Street, 40 Spring Gardens and 50 Bank Street.
This project, situated in the large commercial building in the heart of London’s Canary Wharf, boasted over 500 BACNET/IP Fan Coil Unit Controllers and 200 Kaiterra SensEdge Mini IAQ sensors. BMSI was responsible for the installation of over 17 control closures across eight floors, providing close control – plus future smart control – for the tenant.
All in all, 2022 has been a successful year at BMSI and we couldn’t have done it without the dedicated support, skill and determination of our exception team, partners, and suppliers.
