BMSI's aviation team joins forces with MACE to volunteer at local church near Heathrow
BMSI’s aviation team recently rolled up their sleeves for a day of volunteering at a local church near Heathrow Airport. The event, organised in collaboration with MACE, is a testament to BMSI's commitment to community engagement and giving back to the local area.
The day may have started wet, but the team’s spirits remained high as they got to work transforming the Church’s overgrown outside area. Heathrow Airport, which is home to BMSI’s Aviation Region, has always encouraged suppliers to actively engage in the local community and support charities actively working to improve people’s lives. As a company dedicated to fostering its social values, this project was the ideal opportunity for BMSI to prove its commitment to the Heathrow community.
MACE, a valued partner in this initiative, allocates two days of volunteering for their staff every year. Whether it's repainting a play centre, school, or community hub, MACE employees dedicate their time and effort to making a positive impact in the community. When the chance arose for BMSI to participate in a volunteering initiative alongside our long-standing customer MACE, it was a no-brainer. BMSI were only too happy to not only contribute to a great cause – but also solidify the great comradery and partnerships being nurtured via our work at Heathrow.
Gary Rackham, Regional Manager at BMSI, shared his insights on the day saying, "The day was exhausting, but we managed to have a laugh and a bit of banter throughout. It was a rewarding experience, helping us bond with colleagues and bringing us closer to the MACE team who we work so closely day in day out. The BBQ the team put on after was top-notch too! The church was genuinely grateful for our hard work and for our tool donations – which we hope make a genuine difference in maintaining the groundwork we’ve put in place. Working in the area every single day over at Heathrow, it’s good to know that we’re doing our part to give back to the local community.
"BMSI will not be stopping at this one-time effort either, alongside MACE, we have agreed to organise a 5-a-side football event that is currently scheduled for November. Watch this space for more information about how you can get involved.
